1. Instagram is a huge part of my PLN, as I utilize the bookmark feature to save educational videos into specific folders for my different interests. For example, I have an "Italiano," "sustainable cooking," and "recipe" folder which I save videos and rewatch daily. I save Italian cultural videos of the modern language being spoken in a casual context, as well as educational vocabulary videos. They have helped me retain the language since I rewatch them daily. The sustainable cooking and recipe videos stir the pot of ideas in my mind and keep my creative energy around food running. I love to learn about different ways to combine flavors and to be earth-friendly while in the kitchen, and Instagram provides me with those resources.
2. The digital divide in classrooms around the world is a very prominent topic. On one end, I have seen how technology has been a HUGE tool for catapulting education. For example, my host brother from Italy learned English, Spanish, and German, all from gaming with international kids, watching movies in a different language, and scrolling through English reels on Instagram. However, many students do not have access to these resources, putting them at an automatic disadvantage in their education. A lot of Western schools have made efforts to give students fair access to all technology, and I personally attended a school like this. As a teacher, I would ensure that all my students either have access to technology and wifi or are provided with paper materials as needed.
3. 2 software that I want to implement in my future classrooms are Google Classroom and Quizlet. Quizlet is a studying and learning tool that is collaborative, fun, and versatile. I would create a class file where students can collaboratively make study sets and practice together. Google Classroom is very similar to Canvas, though it is correlated with other Google software such as Microsoft and PowerPoint. The overall education through Google, the biggest search engine in the world would benefit my students.
